Pigment Against Grey
Raking light moves across layered pigment, where saturated crimson presses against a cool, nearly clinical grey. The petals are built in thick, tactile impasto, so the sitter's skin and the botanical matter appear to share one surface. The composition holds the figure at the edge of exposure, leaving the viewer unsure whether the gesture is an offering or a withdrawal.
